53 Park Lane, Mayfair
Dining at this triple-Michelin-starred restaurant in the iconic Dorchester hotel is a special occasion in itself. But a reservation for its showpiece Table Lumière pulls out all the stops. A radiant curtain of fibre optic lights veils the table from other diners, creating a private space suitable for a family celebration or even a romantic proposal. The unique dining experience also allows guests to select their preferred collection of Hermès chinaware. Pictured top
127 Ledbury Road, Notting Hill
Perhaps it’s the location or the front of house team’s ability to strike the right balance between formal and friendly, but this fine-dining restaurant has the welcoming feel of a neighbourhood favourite. Brett Graham’s two-Michelin-starred Modern European menu sparks all the fireworks necessary to mark a milestone and the relaxed tone ensures a chorus of Happy Birthday won’t be frowned upon by staff or fellow diners.
10 Berners Street, Fitzrovia
Those in search of the next hot venue may have moved on from this 2013 opening, but under the auspices of Jason Atherton this all-day restaurant is well on its way to becoming a beloved classic. The menu of modern British cuisine will excite a range of varying tastes and with one of the capital’s most interesting interiors it’s the venue of choice for many birthday and anniversary celebrations.
The Shard, 31 St Thomas Street, London Bridge
The illuminated London skyline view from the 33rd level of The Shard is all the gift needed to commemorate a special event. This is a younger sister to the Hong-Kong based original and shares the same hand-carved moon gates and red lanterns. The menu is inspired by the dishes of imperial Peking and the fiery heat of Sichuan provides a complexity of tastes.
43 Upper Brook Street, Mayfair
Grown-up fine dining is the theme at the two-star London institution from Michel Roux Jr. Opened in 1967, the restaurant has become a benchmark for French haute cuisine and faultless service. A must-try for any gastronome, the legendary soufflés are almost compulsory. There’s a table to accommodate up to 10 guests and a chocolate truffle cake with a personalised message can be pre-ordered.
49 Brook Street, Mayfair
Simon Rogan’s seasonally inspired take on Modern British cuisine was awarded a Michelin star in its first year of service. Ensconced within Claridge’s, the hotel’s art deco styling carries through into the dining room with luxurious results. Our members enjoy a complimentary glass of fizz on arrival when booking through lifestyle concierge and we can arrange a tour of the kitchen for a truly memorable evening.
Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, 66 Knightsbridge
Winning seventh place on the prestigious 2015 World’s 50 Best Restaurants list should be evidence enough as to why this Knightsbridge venue is much sought-after by our members as a setting for celebrations. The views across Hyde Park are sensational, but it’s Blumenthal’s historically referenced British menu that makes it a one-of-a-kind experience.
27A Hay’s Mews, Mayfair
Walking through the garden to the front door of this two-Michelin-starred restaurant has an almost zen-like effect. The calming, horticultural theme continues inside, with green hues in the airy dining room and French food that bursts with the most colourful and flavourful natural bounty. With more than 100 varieties of champagne to choose from on the enormous wine list, it’s the ideal spot for a civilised celebration.
68 Royal Hospital Road, Chelsea
This eponymous venue is London’s longest-time holder of three Michelin stars. Ramsay’s no stranger to luxury and all its trappings and this is a no-holds-barred fine dining experience. The kitchen’s in the hands of the seriously talented Clare Smyth, who has created a series of intelligent menus since she took over in 2013. Dine here soon before she moves on to open her first solo restaurant in the autumn.
