Burberry, Ted Baker and Hugo Boss suitsThe suit

Forget heavy wools and full linings when it comes to suiting up in summer – it’s all about linen, light wool and cotton. The single-breasted travel suit from Burberry is a blend of linen and wool which means that you’ll stay sweat-free in the height of summer but the jacket will retain its sharp silhouette. Ted Baker has opted for a full linen number with its ReaneyJ range, which is available in taupe or a slightly flecked light blue that will look brilliant with a striped shirt and light-coloured tie. For something more casual, Hugo Boss’s slightly creped Hedson3 cotton suit comes in a white and blue pinstripe and is summery yet sophisticated enough for dress-down Fridays or big summer weddings.

Hugo Boss ElvedgeThe shirt

If you’re wearing the right suit, you shouldn’t need to worry too much about the shirt as cotton will breathe well under a linen or light wool suit. However, for really hot days you could opt for double linen with an Elvedge shirt from Hugo Boss. Available in light pink, sea green, light blue, charcoal and white, it’s a regular cut, allowing for a slightly looser fit, and the collar is large enough for a thin tie.

Paul Smith tie and clipThe tie

Selecting the right tie can make or break an outfit and come summertime it’s wise to choose something that’s light, fun and floral. Paul Smith is the master when it comes to suit accessories and we love the delicately embroidered floral pattern tie that’s crafted from 100% British silk and will make a bold statement when set against a plain shirt. For an extra touch of class, add a tie clip decorated in the designer’s signature multi-coloured stripes.

Ted Baker socks and Paul Smith pocket squareThe socks and pocket square

Add a splash of colour to your look with Ted Baker’s golf ball-inspired summer socks and some more flower power from Paul Smith with the designer’s Floral Heart pocket square. Both will stand out well against a dark suit and a pair of dark brown or black brogues. If you need assistance with matching your accessories with your suit, speak to our specialists for more hints and tips.

Persol Cellor sunglassesThe sunglasses

The celebrity shades of choice, Persol Cellors have been worn by everyone from Steve McQueen and Paul Newman to Ryan Gosling and Leonardo DiCaprio. If that list of cultural icons isn’t enough to make you want them, just wait until you feel the build quality – every pair is hand-constructed and they’re littered with small design features. They are a casual pair of shades but look fantastic on more formal occasions too. Check out our other top sunglasses of the summer ►

Dunhill London suede saddle loafersThe shoes

For those occasions when relaxed elegance is order of the day, opt for a pair of Dunhill’s suede saddle loafers. Featuring the signature diamond design on the curved saddle and heritage detailing, these Italian-made shoes are proving to be a big hit among our members this summer. The dark brown makes them easy to pair with pretty much every outfit and they look great with a light linen suit or pair of chinos with a casual shirt, blazer and maybe even a boater if you’re feeling particularly flamboyant.

Tudor Heritage Black Bay watchesThe watch

Tudor watches released three new timepieces at Baselworld last year which have seriously impressed their owners over the past 12 months. This year, the Rolex-owned company concentrated on updating the Heritage – a chronograph that was launched in 2012 and quickly became a modern icon. It’s now available in steel or steel and gold and introduces a date function to the Heritage family. It’s a statement piece that offers the build quality of a Rolex for a fraction of the price – check out this and our other top watches of the season ►
